What is water repellency?
The fabric of this jacket is water repellent: it lets water slide over its surface without seeping in. In this way, the fabric doesn’t soak up water and stays light and breathable.
The water-repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric's exterior: It doesn't use fluoride compounds.
To what extent is this jacket waterproof?
Our jacket is protected by a waterproof coating that can withstand 5,000 mm H2O (Schmerbers). An idea of what this means? It’s as if it can withstand a 5-metre column of water! This level of protection is sure to keep you dry, even in light rain for a full hour.
How do you restore its water-repellent properties?
To keep your jacket waterproof, nothing could be easier! Reactivate the protective layer every 3 washes or after a dozen uses in the rain. Either: 15 minutes in a tumble drier, or with a hair dryer held 20 cm away. And that’s it... mission accomplished!
What’s its level of breathability?
A breathable fabric allows your perspiration to escape, rather than keeping it trapped inside. This ability is measured on a RET scale: the lower the number, the more breathable the material. This jacket has a RET of 12, which is a good level. You remain comfortable on both sides!
