Is the fabric waterproof?
Your jacket is protected by a waterproof coating that can withstand 15,000 mm H2O (Schmerbers). In other words? It's like it can withstand a 15-meter column of water. Suffice to say that you can hike with complete peace of mind, even in torrential rain.
What waterproofing tests are carried out?
We carry out laboratory tests that simulate rainfall scenarios to guarantee the jacket's waterproof rating. This garment underwent a shower test using 60 litres of water/m²/hour for 2 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a torrential downpour in the mountains.
What about the hood?
The hood adapts perfectly to your head thanks to an elastic drawcord that adjusts the height and a rip-tab at the back for depth. It also has a small peak that provides efficient rain protection for your face. You stay dry, even in bad weather!
To what extent does this jacket breathe?
The JIS L 1099 B1 test measures the water vapour that passes through the fabric in 24 hours, in grams per square meter. The higher this value, the more ventilated the fabric. A performance rating of 15,000 g/m²/24 hours, which corresponds to a very well-ventilated fabric, is ideal for walking in the mountains.
Do you have any information regarding the composition of the jacket?
This jacket has a membrane, in other words, a layer of very thin film under the outer fabric (2.5-layer construction). This technique makes the jacket waterproof while remaining lightweight and breathable.
How does this jacket fit?
This jacket has a standard cut that follows the shape of your body without being too tight. It offers enough room inside to wear a sweater or fleece jacket underneath. Its design also means you can wear clothes in layers depending on the temperature, while maintaining freedom of movement.
How to restore the waterproof properties?
Water resistance is when water slides off your jacket rather than soaking in. This treatment can weaken over time, but don't worry! To reactivate it, simply place the jacket in a tumble dryer for 10 minutes at a low temperature. You can also use our waterproofing spray (ref 8554908).
