The JIS L 1099 B1 test measures the water vapor passing through the fabric in 24 hours, in grams per square meter. The higher this value, the more breathable the fabric is. A performance rating of 15,000 g/m²/24 hours, corresponding to a very breathable fabric, is ideal for hiking in the mountains.
