This men's sailing jacket is designed for coastal sailing in wet, cool, and windy conditions.
Component Breathability
To find out if a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance, or RET (ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more moisture is evaporated, and therefore the higher the fabric's breathability. We consider this if: RET < 9 = very breathable fabric
9 < RET = breathable jacket
Sleeve Cuffs
The sleeve end is adjustable with a rip-tab. It allows you to adjust the sleeve to your arm length, but also prevents air and water from entering. To remove the jacket more easily, open the rip-tab completely.
How to wash your jacket?
You can wash your jacket on a synthetic cycle at 30° or 40°C with your usual detergent. Do not use fabric softener, which can damage the garment's existing performance, or bleach. Also, be careful not to fold the jacket too much when putting it in the washing machine and do not overload the washing machine. Very important: Choose a full rinse or a double rinse to completely remove all detergent residue.
Pockets
2 pockets on the front of the jacket, for VHF, sailing tie, hat, etc. Injected plastic zipper to prevent salt oxidation
1 internal chest pocket on the left side to store your phone or other items, closed with a zipper
1 internal chest pocket on the right side closed with hook and loop
Pockets are not waterproof!
How to reactivate the jacket's water resistance
Drying is an essential stage in reactivating the water-repellent treatment. We recommend that you place the jacket flat on a clothes rack and let it dry in the open air. Warning: never dry the jacket directly on a radiator. Then place it in the tumble dryer on a short synthetic cycle, i.e. 10 to 15 minutes, before turning it back to the correct side. Warning: do not over-dry the garment.
Collar and Hood
The hood can be stored in the collar. The collar is then secured with plastic studs to prevent oxidation from salt. Depth and height adjustable hood: adjustable at the back of the hood and at the collar. The chin-high collar effectively protects the lower part of the face. Collar height (back): 9 cm.
Jacket Specificity
Compared to our 100 jacket, the 500 jacket:
- more waterproof (15,000 Schmerbers) and elastic material
- wrist closure with rip-tab
- internal flap with a drainage channel
- hood that folds into the collar and can be adjusted in depth
- additional external chest pocket
Information on waterproof properties
A fabric is water-resistant when water slides off the surface of the fabric, without penetrating inside. Your jacket does not get soaked and remains light and breathable. Water-resistant properties are achieved by a treatment applied to the outside of the fabric, but in practice these properties can be altered.
Water Resistance Level
We measure the resistance of a fabric to water pressure in mm of water column (JIS standard). The higher the water pressure the fabric resists, the more waterproof it is. The component is resistant to a water pressure of 15,000 mm Schmerbers (JIS standard). The anorak's water resistance was tested in a rain shower with 60 liters of water/m²/hour for 2 hours.
Front Zipper Closure
The full-length zipper is protected by an internal flap with a drainage channel for better waterproofing. Soft fabric flap at the top of the collar to limit chin irritation. Injected plastic zipper to prevent oxidation from salt
