Optional stability kit (ref. 8282768)
The equipment set, also called a "stability set", can be mounted on PLAY3 and PLAY5 inline skates of all sizes. This "stability kit" means that children can start in "tricycle" mode: it's the ideal way to increase stability on their first rides so that they gain confidence.
How do you make your wheels last?
The wheels will wear out faster on some parts of your skates. So, change their positions regularly. It's time to change them when they have worn down to the first of the seven visible rings inside the wheel.
What safety measures should you take?
We recommend all of them: helmet, elbow pads, knee pads and wrist guards. Because you never know which part of your body you'll fall on.
A "learning" tip from Laila, product manager of Play 5 skates.
As parents, when our little ones start skating for the first time, we tend to hold both their arms. It's an automatic reflex, but it's actually not a good idea. So, how should you help your child? Take them somewhere with a railing and tell them to walk in small steps while holding the railing with one hand. They will surely get there!
Rubber or plastic wheels and brakes?
Unlike plastic, which slides but doesn't brake, rubber provides good traction. This prevents your child from slipping when pushing forward, and also helps them to brake effectively. What's more, rubber wears out even more slowly than plastic. Our Oxelo teams work hard to keep your child safe - regardless of their experience. So, we have chosen to equip all our skates with wheels and brakes made of rubber, not PVC.
Want to repair or take care of your skates?
You can find wheels of different sizes (including those that glow in the dark), brakes and compatible screws on our website and at your local Decathlon workshop. It's all easy to assemble. How to adjust the size
Do you see the small tab at the front of the boot? Just move the stick tab to the number you want. 1 for the smallest size, 2 for the medium size and 3 for the largest size. The space at the front of the foot is then freed up and you gain 2 sizes. Smart, right?
How are our products tested?
All our skates are tested in the laboratory. These tests verify their compliance with European standards for skates, as well as their resistance to wear. In addition to laboratory tests, we also conduct field tests - some measured and others based on testers' opinions - to truly put the product to the test. The result is a tested, proven and approved product.
