Need to keep your food warm (or cold) for several hours? Our designers have created this simple, lightweight stainless steel isothermal box.
Key tips...
As well as keeping food warm, you can also keep it cold during your outdoor excursions. There's nothing better than a scoop of ice cream halfway through a walk to motivate children (and adults!). You can even use your box as a yogurt maker: Boil milk, let it cool to around 43°C (warm but not scalding), then pour the milk into the box with a spoonful of yogurt. Close the box and leave it overnight (between 6 and 10 hours).
How does the isothermal element work?
We use a double wall of stainless steel with a vacuum in between to block thermal exchanges by conduction or convection. To block exchanges from thermal radiation, a thin copper layer covers the outside of the inner wall. The top is insulated thanks to an internal insert made of expanded polystyrene.
Tips for maximising the performance of your isothermal box.
Fill the food box with hot water for 5 minutes and then replace the water with hot food. Close the box. The fuller the box, the more effectively it keeps its contents hot or cold. This food storage container has a smaller volume and will not stay as warm for as long as a larger, filled container.
Materials and regulations
Our products and materials meet the current standards for food contact. They do not contain Bisphenol A (BPA) in accordance with current French regulations. We have chosen to use 18/8 (304) stainless steel for the reservoir and bowl, known for its food safety, and a heat-resistant and shock-resistant polypropylene for the top. The seal and handle are made from silicone, an extremely durable material.
Function
This simple product consists of 5 components (reservoir, lid, gasket, handle and bowl) that can be separated if necessary. The included bowl is made from double-layer stainless steel, so you won't get burned when eating. We chose a wide enough opening of 8 cm in diameter to make washing and filling the box easier. The soft handle makes it easy to carry without taking up space once you've put it in your bag. Do not place the box or bowl in the microwave.
Care instructions
Dishwasher safe product (lid + body + bowl). Be careful, in this case, do not lose the top seal. Dry without covering. The seal and handle can be removed for thorough washing and drying.
First use
Rinse the entire product 3 times with clean water before using it for the first time.
Product design: our expertise
Our global design centre in Quechua is located in Passy, at the foot of Mont-Blanc in Haute Savoie. This location makes it a real meeting place for our teams (designers, product managers, engineers, etc.) and outdoor sports enthusiasts. An excellent asset for designing your mountain hiking products and for offering you all our expertise.
How is thermal insulation tested?
We tested this food box in the lab, in accordance with standard EN 12546-1, at an ambient temperature of 20°C, while it was filled to its full capacity. The time it takes to go from 95°C to 50°C (food temperature that feels warm enough to eat) is 16 hours.
Double-walled stainless steel with vacuum for insulation. Compact and lightweight with wide opening. Its soft handle and screw lid make it practical. (0.8 litres).
