This anti-UV rash vest was developed to protect your child from the sun while surfing and bodyboarding. Water over 22°C.
Reduced irritation
This UV protection rash vest reduces friction with the surfboard or bodyboard. The loose fit of the rash vest makes it easier to put on and is more comfortable when dry. Choose the tight-fit rash vest 100 or 500 if you prefer comfort when wet or wearing it under a wetsuit. Irritation reduction has been tested for 1-hour sessions. If you surf for more than 1 hour, the UV 500 rash vest is more suitable thanks to its seamless panels under the armpits.
How to choose your UV protection rash vest (Part 1)
All our UV-resistant rash vests are UPF50+, meaning they have the maximum level of sun protection. The choice between them will be based on sleeve length and will depend on their intended use. Constraints are greater for surfing, so we decided to build our range primarily for surfing. For surfing, the choice will be made according to the duration of your sessions: 1 hour, 2 hours, or 3 hours.
Protect the little ones!
Young skin is very sensitive to the sun as children's protective systems only form after the age of 3. With the same exposure, the sun's effects are 2 to 3 times stronger on a child than on an adult. Therefore, it is important to protect them effectively.
UV protection even when wet.
The fabric of this UV-resistant product blocks at least 98% of UVB radiation and 95% of UVA radiation (UPF 50+). This guarantees effective sun protection. It can be used both in and out of water, for water or marine sports. The density of textile fibers filters UV rays, for long-lasting protection, even after washing.
UV protection rash vest for multiple water sports
Our UV rash vests are designed to meet the needs of the most demanding surfers. Our design choices also make them compatible with other water sports such as swimming, kitesurfing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, water skiing, sea trekking, or SUP (stand-up paddleboarding).
Behavior when in the sun
Even though this rash vest offers sun protection, phenomena such as reflections (from water, sand, etc.), heat, time of day, etc., must be taken into account. Wearing this rash vest does not exclude the wearer from adopting appropriate behavior: Wear sunglasses, wear a hat or cap, regularly apply suitable sunscreen, drink regularly, etc.
What does UPF 50+ mean?
UPF is a sun protection factor (Ultra Violet Protection Factor) and is standardized worldwide. It defines the level of protection of a fabric and more precisely the percentage of UV rays it allows to pass through. To meet the standards, it must block at least 95% of UV rays. UPF 50+ means that the fabric blocks at least 95% of UVA rays and 98% of UVB rays.
How to choose your UV protection rash vest (Part 2: According to session duration)
1 hour: Occasional practice. Choose a loose fit (easy dressing, comfort when dry) or a tight fit (comfort when wet). A loop system to attach it to shorts ensures the stability of the product. 2 hours: Regular practice. Comfort when wet is increased by seamless panels under the arms and a drawstring which further enhances stability. 3 hours: Intensive practice. Additional warmth to help you stay in the water longer.
Support system
This UV protection rash vest has a loop at the front to attach the swimsuit shorts cord so that the top does not ride up while surfing. This solution is recommended for sessions up to 1 hour. For more than an hour, we recommend choosing the UV top 500, which also has a tie at the hip for better stability. Unwanted rising of the top can cause irritation on the lower abdomen.
Heat and wind
The minimum water temperature recommended for using this UV protection rash vest is 22°C. The air temperature can increase or decrease this recommendation. Our thermal models (over 2 hours) are made of wool, neoprene, or both. The presence of wind can have an unpleasant impact once the wind exceeds 15 km/h: In this case, choose a neoprene model.
