This UV protection top is ideal for surfing in warm water, for sessions lasting up to one hour.
Reduced chafing
This UV protection top reduces chafing against the surfboard or bodyboard. The loose fit of the top makes it easier to put on and is more comfortable when dry. Choose the tight-fitting top 100 or 500 if you prefer comfort when wet or wear it under a wetsuit. Chafing reduction has been tested for 1-hour sessions. If you plan to surf for over 1 hour, the 500 UV top is a more suitable choice thanks to its seamless underarm panels.
Heat and wind
The minimum recommended water temperature for using this UV protection top is 22°C. Air temperature can increase or decrease this recommendation. Our thermal models (over 2 hours) are made of fleece, neoprene, or both. The presence of wind can have an unpleasant impact once the wind exceeds 15 km/h: In this case, choose a neoprene model.
Support and stability in waves
This UV protection top has a loop at the front to connect the boardshort cord so that the top does not ride up while surfing. This solution is recommended for sessions up to 1 hour. For more than one hour, we recommend choosing the UV top 500, which also has a hip tie for better stability. Unwanted riding up of the top can cause irritation on the lower abdomen.
Behavior in the sun
Although this top provides sun protection, phenomena such as reflections (from water, sand, etc.), heat, time of day, etc., should be taken into account. Wearing this top does not exempt the wearer from adopting appropriate behavior: Wear sunglasses, wear a hat or cap, regularly apply appropriate sunscreen, drink regularly, etc.
UV protection even when wet.
Can be used both in and out of the water, for water or marine sports. Chlorine resistant.
How to choose your UV protection top (Part 2: According to the duration of the session)
1 hour: Occasional practice. You can choose between a loose fit (ease of wearing and comfort when dry) or a tight fit (comfort when wet). A loop system to connect it to shorts ensures product stability. 2 hours: Regular practice. Comfort when wet is increased by seamless underarm panels and a cord that further enhances stability. 3 hours: Intensive practice. Extra warmth to help you stay in the water longer.
What does UPF 50+ mean?
UPF is a sun protection factor (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) and is standardized worldwide. It defines the level of protection of a fabric and more precisely the percentage of UV rays it allows to pass through. To meet standards, it must block at least 95% of UV rays. UPF 50+ means that the fabric blocks at least 95% of UVA rays and 98% of UVB rays.
How to choose your UV protection top (Part 1)
All our UV-resistant tops are UPF50+, meaning they have the maximum level of sun protection. The choice between them will be based on sleeve length and will depend on their intended use.
Restrictions are greater for surfing, so we decided to build our range primarily for surfing. For surfing, the choice will be made according to the duration of your sessions: 1 hour, 2 hours or 3 hours.
