How to choose the material for your swimming cap
MESH:Swimsuit-like material, easy to wear without pulling hair. It is finished with a seam around the head for a secure fit. COATED MESH:
This variant of the mesh cap is also comfortable. It is covered with a silicone layer that helps prevent water from entering and makes it less elastic for a more secure fit. SILICONE:
Less comfortable, but very elastic, it offers excellent stability and keeps most of the water out.
Are there other types of swimming caps?
There are several alternatives to standard swimming caps that suit everyone's needs:
- hair caps: These are very elastic and made of mesh. - bubble caps: Made of latex and can be put on without pulling hair. - volume or extra volume borders: The shape of these silicone caps leaves more space for thick hair. - molded or domed caps: These silicone caps are used in competitions. - neoprene caps: perfect for open water swimming.
How to choose the right size of swimming cap
S, M, L, one size… Which one to choose? The choice is quite simple: Fabric and coated mesh caps come in different sizes (S, M, L), while silicone caps come in one size because they are very elastic. For a definitive answer, here's a small guide based on your head size:
- XS: 50-52 cm. (available in the baby section)
- S: 53-56 cm. - M: 56-59 cm. - L: 59-62 cm. - One size: from 53 to 62 cm.
How to put on your swimming cap
Did you know? There's a right way and a wrong way to wear a swimming cap! Mesh caps have a central band designed to go from front to back. For silicone caps, the fold line (when stretched) is in the same direction as the others. Place both hands together inside the cap. Open your hands (and fingers) to create space, then put on the cap. At the front, it should be approximately one finger's width above your eyebrows.
Why should you wear a swimming cap?
There are two main reasons. Firstly, wearing a cap is a sign of respect for the place where you are swimming. By securing your hair, you help keep the water and equipment clean, ensuring a certain level of hygiene in the pool or water area. Secondly, you also wear it for yourself! A cap protects your hair from damage from water, chlorine (or other chemicals) and salt (or other impurities).
