WATERPROOFING OF THIS JACKET
The waterproof properties of this jacket are not limited to its components:The assembly technique of the different parts is also an evaluation criterion.Sewn and then sealed, the overall waterproofing properties of your jacket are measured by a shower test developed by Decathlon that simulates rain of varying intensity.As such, this waterproof NH550 jacket protects you from a shower, equivalent to 12 cm of rain in 2 hours.
Technical lining
The jacket lining is made of two materials:mesh at the back to improve the breathability of the garment and nylon at the hips to maximize ease of movement and abrasion resistance.We used an ultra-soft fabric in the hood for added comfort.
Maintaining the performance of your jacket
To maintain the fabric's ability to be waterproof, we recommend reactivating it regularly.Do this every three washes (it is important to rinse thoroughly) or after a dozen uses in the rain.You can easily reactivate the waterproof property by warming the fabric:
- in a tumble dryer for 15 minutes (synthetic program)
- with a hairdryer 20 cm back and forth twice
- or twice over an iron with a delicate setting without steam

This jacket is designed for a daily walk at a speed of 5 km/h on flat terrain.During sporting activity, the amount of perspiration depends on the intensity or duration of the physical effort.If the breathability of the fabric is not suitable for your type of physical activity, sweat vapor condenses inside the jacket.You will feel damp inside.This is not rain falling, but sweat vapor condensing.Choose a waterproof jacket according to your level of physical activity.
Waterproofing of the constituent part of this jacket
The waterproofing of a fabric by a coating or a membrane is measured in Schmerbers or mm H2O (pressure of a column of water).The higher this number, the more waterproof the fabric.This jacket is designed with a waterproof coating (JIS 1092 standard):This component resists 5,000 mm H2O (Schmerbers) before washing (equivalent to the pressure exerted by a 5 m column of water).
Breathability of the fabric
The JIS L 1099 B1 test measures the water vapor passing through the fabric in 24 hours, in grams per square meter.The higher this value, the more ventilated the fabric.With a waterproofness rating of 5,000 g/m²/24 hours and some ventilation, this garment is suitable for moderate intensity walking in the countryside.
Technical hood
The hood can be adjusted in height using a drawcord.It can be adjusted in depth thanks to a velcro strip at the back of the hood.The hood has a shape-memory visor for good face protection.
A complete pocket system
The jacket has a total of seven pockets!Two side pockets for warming hands.Two large external pipe-shaped pockets with flap and snap button closure.One external chest pocket and one internal zippered pocket to secure your personal belongings.One internal mesh pocket, to hold gloves for example, and to keep them warm close to your body!
