These caps, which were designed in conjunction with demanding hikers, are always there on the tips of your poles so you don't notice impacts on the ground.
Our other technical choices…
In addition to its durability, the rubber material of this tip has a superior grip coefficient on hard ground (roads, rocks, roots). Also, based on our expertise in shoe soles, we have specially designed V-shaped studs to ensure a good grip on soft ground (sand, mud).
How it was designed...
Fully designed and validated during a year-long collaboration with 14 demanding users, made up of a well-chosen mix of outdoor hiking customers and hiking ambassadors. From the drafting of the specifications to the prototype validation tests, including the choice of colour. Thank you Serge, Evelyne, Olivier, Thomas, Perrine and all the others!
How did we achieve such a long lifespan?
Mainly through the choice of a rubber formula that is highly resistant to abrasion and deformation. Our laboratory tests show 3 times less wear than the previous model (average abrasion at ambient and hot temperatures). To maximise durability, we also chose deep studs. This means the tip needs to be replaced less often.
To attach this cap to Quechua and Forclaz poles
Press the cap firmly onto the tip, so that the flexible material deforms to fit the tip. It's important to hit the ground hard 2 to 3 times to ensure it's fully inserted. The grip on the tip of the pole is designed so that the cap doesn't come off easily during hiking. The grip is maximised on a clean tip, but reduced if there is dust or moisture on the tip. To remove it, pull it off with a twisting motion. This will make removal much easier.
Cushioning, grip, durability: These caps will transform the tips of your poles so you can hike more comfortably on all types of hard ground (roads, rocks, roots, etc.)
Cushioning
Flexible round material to reduce noise and absorb impacts
Grip
100% rubber material with a knurled pattern for grip and traction
Durability
Designed to last. Rubber is resistant to abrasion and puncture
Compatibility
Fits Quechua and Forclaz poles. Does not come off during hiking
Ease of use
Red so it can be easily spotted if removed. Knurled pattern showing wear
Content protection
Prevents the tip of the pole from causing injuries or damaging my belongings
